미국 미네소타 대학교 정치학과 명예교수
프린스턴 대학교에서 정치학으로 박사학위를 받았고, 뉴욕 시립 대학교(CUNY)에서 오랫동안 가르쳤다. 2009년부터 미네소타 대 학교로 자리를 옮겼다. ‘돌봄’(care)과 관련한 사상·제도 연구의 권 위자이고, 2008년 여성주의 정치이론 분야의 최고 논문에 수여 되는 오킨/영(Okin/Young) 상을 받을 정도로 정치학·여성학 분 야에서 주목받는 세계적인 학자다. 저서로는 Moral Boundaries: A Political Argument for an Ethic of Care (Routledge, 1993), Who Cares? How to Reshape a Democratic Politics (Cornell University Press, 2015) 등이 있고, 논문으로는 “Creating Caring Institutions: Politics, Plurality, and Purpose”(2010), “There is an Alternative: homines curans and the Limits of Neoliberalism”(2017) 등이 있다.
