펭 치아(Pheng Cheah)버클리 소재 캘리포니아 대학 수사학과 교수이다. 『유령적 국민성: 칸트에서 포스트식민 해방 문학에 이르는 자유의 통로들』(Spectral Nationality: Passages of Freedom from Kant to Postcolonial Literatures of Liberation, 2003), 『비인간적 조건들: 세계시민주의와 인권에 관하여』(Inhuman Conditions: On Cosmopolitanism and Human Rights, 2006)의 저자이며, 『데리다와 정치적인 것의 시간』(Derrida and the Time of the Political, ed. with Suzanne Guerlac, 2006)과 『비교의 지반들: 베네딕트 앤더슨의 연구 주위에서』(Grounds of Comparison: Around the Work of Benedict Anderson, ed. with Jonathan Culler, 2003), 『세계시민 정치: 국민을 넘어서는 사유와 감정』(Cosmopolitics: Thinking and Feeling Beyond the Nation, ed. with Bruce Robbins, 1998)의 편집자이다. 현재 그는 지구적 금융화 시대에 세계 문학을 재창조하는 것에 관한 책과 도구성 개념에 대한 책을 완성하고 있는 중이다.
